STATE REFORM PARTY (STAR) SABAH: Sabah BN/Umno leaders Should Stand Up and Be Counted on Bible Raid - YB DATUK DR. JEFFREY KITINGAN

Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan is the Chairman of STAR Sabah and State Assemblymen for N33, Bingkor, Sabah.
He also contested in P180, Keningau garnering 11900 strong votes

PRESS STATEMENT

“Sabah BN/Umno leaders Should Stand Up and Be Counted on Bible Raid - Dr. Jeffrey”
______________________________________________________________________

Kota Kinabalu: “Malaysia is burning while the PM is still twiddling his thumb to decide what to say and what to do. Before the country spirals out of control, the fire and heat has reached the face of Umno and BN leaders in Sabah. They need to act before it is too late” said Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan, STAR Sabah Chief, commenting on the Allah controversy and raid by the Islamic authority on a Christian body in Selangor.

The Sarawak BN leaders have spoken and have taken a stand with the Chief Minister earlier stating in no uncertain terms in the presence of Najib that the religious bigotry disease infecting Malaya has no place in harmonious Sarawak.

Another senior Minister has now stated there cannot be two sets of legal interpretation on the Allah issue when the Federal Constitution guarantees freedom of religion.

For the Sabah Umno and BN leaders led by the Chief Minister, they now need to show courage and leadership in the face of adversity of their common foes from within and stand up to be counted or else leave the Barisan Nasional.

It is rather foolish for a federal Minister from Sabah to urge the people to remain calm without himself stating clearly his stand and what he will do to resolve the growing menace against religious freedom.

He is no different from a doctor telling his patient who is suffering and in pain to go home and rest and remain calm without doing anything. Of course, no such doctor will do such a foolish thing.

The problem on the widening religious discord is caused none other than by the federal government itself.

The government is shooting themselves in the foot and the PM has shown no courage and no leadership at all. It is small wonder that he is admonished by the daughter of an ex-PM.

No statements or actions whatsoever from opposition parties will heal or resolve the problem.

The solution lies squarely within BN and its components led by racist big brother Umno.

Umno alone cannot be counted or relied upon to resolve the problem. They have a vested and biased interest and are the cause of the on-going threat against religious freedom, not just against the Christian faith.

Therefore, the other BN components need to remind the PM that he is supposed to be the PM for all Malaysians not just the Malays or of the Peninsula.

They need to tell the PM and Umno in no uncertain terms that the on-going spat cannot be allowed to continue and need to be stopped at all costs. If unstopped, it will lead to the country being fractured along religious and racial lines.

The situation is more critical in Sabah and Sarawak which epitomizes the true 1-Malaysia peace, harmony and goodwill amongst their multi-ethnic and multi-religious citizens. This peace, harmony and goodwill need to be and must be preserved at all costs.

The onus now falls on the heads and shoulders of the Sabah Umno and BN leaders to stand up as Malaysian and community leaders to show their Umno/BN counterparts in the Peninsula their stand to preserve peace and harmony in the country.

As it is an Umno/BN internal causation, the solution lies within BN itself.

These Sabah Umno and BN leaders need not worry that making a stand will jeopardize their own positions or vested personal interests.

If standing up and be counted in such a critical situation facing the country will affect their positions and personal interests, they just need to say goodbye to their so-called partners and leave the Barisan.

Just remember that in the end, the good will triumph over evil.

If they are looking for Ministerships and positions, by leaving BN and joining with the Pakatan coalition, they will be similarly be rewarded. Perhaps, their reward and position may even be better with the Prime Ministership of Sabah and senior federal Ministerships readily made available to them.

STATE REFORM PARTY (STAR) SABAH: Najib, Why No Tweet of Federal Flood Aid for Sarawak? - YB DATUK DR.

“Najib, Why No Tweet of Federal Flood Aid for Sarawak? – Dr. Jeffrey”

Kota Kinabalu: “If the treatment of flood victims in Sabah and Sarawak is any test, then it is confirmed that Sabahans and Sarawakians are treated as step-children by the Prime Minister and the Malayan/Malaysian federal government.

It also shows that Najib is only a prime minister for Malays in the Peninsula and not for the whole of Malaysia and his 1-Malaysia means only 1-Malaysia for Malays only” said Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan, STAR Sabah Chief, noting that the PM only tweet his hope that Sarawak flood victims would persevere and pray that God will ease and relieve the flood victims there.

The treatment of Sabah and Sarawak flood victims is a sharp contrast to the treatment of the flood victims in the Peninsula.

In the Peninsula, the PM not only announced that the flood victims were to be given RM500 flood aid by the federal government.

After visiting the flood-hit areas in his home State, the PM announced that the government will provide additional assistance to help lighten the burden of flood victims, other than the RM500.

During the floods in Sabah, the PM came for a wedding reception but failed to find the time to visit the flood-hit areas during his visit.

He came and went without even so much as saying a word about the flood situation in Sabah at that time let alone announce any flood aid. This speaks volume of how much or rather how less the PM cares for Sabahans.

The PM’s tweet for God to help Sarawak flood victims is no less convincing that he cares less for Sarawakians.

Given the federal stand on preventing Christians from using the Allah word, one wonders which God is the PM referring to in seeking to pray for aid for the Sarawakians!

To rub salt into the wound, not only are victims in the Peninsula given flood aid and additional flood, the farmers and fishermen were to be given further aid for their losses of crops, livestock and fish in cages. The Minister of Agriculture even announced that the aid would be given within two weeks.

In Sabah and Sarawak, hundreds of villages were inundated during the floods.

Did the PM and the Minister of Agriculture not think that the floods in Sabah and Sarawak had also destroyed many crops, livestock and fish in cages in addition to destruction of homes and caused other untold losses?

Flood victims in Sarawak at least had the support and assistance of the Chief Minister and his band of merry Ministers who were on the ground attending to the flood victims and ensuring food and other aid from the State agencies reached the victims.

Unfortunately for Sabahans, the State government were doing the disappearing act with absentee Ministers nowhere to be seen near the flood-hit areas.

Perhaps, the difference between the Sabah and Sarawak governments could be the attitude of their leader, the Chief Minister. Or, it could be that the Sarawak government is helmed by a local party leader while in Sabah, the leader is subservient to his political masters in Putrajaya.

There are plenty of lessons to be learnt from the way the flood victims in Sabah and Sarawak are treated compared to their counterparts in the Peninsula.

Sabahans and Sarawakians alike should remember these lessons come the 14th general elections and vote to oust the sitting Umno/BN federal government.

STATE REFORM PARTY (STAR) SABAH: Government Clueless and Can No Longer be Trusted? - YB DATUK DR.

“Government Clueless and Can No Longer be Trusted? - Dr. Jeffrey”

Kota Kinabalu: “While Malaysians rejoiced temporarily in welcoming the new year, the country continued with its downward spiral with the federal government showing that it is clueless and having lost touch with the common people” said Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan, STAR Sabah Chief, noting the various statements by the Ministers and the police big-wigs and the ad-hoc announcement of the 11 austerity measures by PM Najib culminating in the people’s protests amid celebrations to welcome 2014.

The government has failed the people and its recent policies on reduction of subsidies and price hikes are nothing more than stop-gap measures aimed at window-dressing the deep rooted economic problems caused by corruption, mis-governance, wastages and excessive spending.

The subsequent statements, promises and after-thought so-called austerity measures prove that the policies have not been well thought out and are in reality mis-steps.

These mis-steps have caused untold damage to the people which the Umno/BN government had promised to take care of in its PRU-13 BN Manifesto.

The damage is done and it may be too late.

Creating a Laboratory to study on Living Costs and promising to reduce the impact of rising prices is not prevention. Neither is it a cure of the ills of the people caused by rising prices.

Prices have already risen and now the government is only trying to rein in the price increases but forgotten that it is the government that caused the price increases in the first place.

It is just like giving poison to the people and then giving pain-killers without curing the poison.

The austerity measures announced by the PM confirms that the government did not consider austerity measures before the price hikes.

These measures including taking it out on civil servants are meaningless without targets and objectives. In any event, these so-called savings are so miniscule that it will do nothing to reduce the national debt or excessive government expenditure.

Similarly, the announcement by the DPM to form a committee to re-evaluate the rationalization of reduction of subsidies shows that the government decided to reduce subsidies without studying the impact of such a policy.

The government has got it wrong every step of the way.

More laughable are the reasons advanced by the police and Minsters on protests by the people against the price increases.

Rising crime has shown the inability and ineffectiveness of the police which is partly caused by incompetence and largely due to the deployment of police resources for political purposes to look after the interests of Umno/BN at the expense of safeguarding the people.

The police’s reasons for the protests and their actions before the media and television further confirms their shortcomings.

There is no denying that the price increases and the rising costs of living are caused by the government policies.

It seems that only the leaders and the Ministers are not aware of this cause

The most affected are the ordinary people, perhaps up to 95% of the population, and there are no solutions in sight. Only some comic relief is given with moronic statements like no complaints by the people mean that they support the price hikes.

“Can the people be blamed for protesting the price hikes in the circumstances?” asked Dr. Jeffrey.

The saddest part is that of the reactions of the Umno pack and Umno-linked organizations with the numerous unwarranted police reports.

These blind followers and wannabes heroes may have their reasons for their personal vested interests but it shows their low intellect.

Worse to follow, is the inelegant silence of the Umno leaders and their indirect condoning of these foolish acts of the Umno pack.

What these Umno pack, blind followers and supporters of the Umno/BN leaders failed to realize is that the Umno/BN federal government failed to honour their promises given in the Umno/BN Manifesto during the May 2013 general elections.

The PM made a grand live-telecast of the launch of the BN Manifesto lasting more than 3 hours. The PM and his Umno/BN entourage then went round the country on its “Janji DiTepati” tour and canvassing the promises to reduce car prices, reduce tolls, no petrol price hikes, etc. etc.

In less than 6 months, the federal government’s policies went totally against the BN Manifesto.

Promise after promise were broken. No wonder, in the Peninsula, they referred to the tour as the “Janji DiCapati” tour.

As for PM Najib, he should seriously consider changing his advisers and many of his Ministers. If not, don’t be surprised that there will be a change of the Prime Minister soon.

All in, there can only be one and one only conclusion. The Umno/BN government can no longer be trusted anymore. More so, in the context of Sabah and Sarawak, the colonies of the federal government, which is not a true federal government of Malaya, Sabah and Sarawak.
