KUCHING: Research will be done on the durian species planted in Singai area, including Mt Singai, to register it as an intellectual property of the Singai Bidayuh community.
Community Services Assistant Minister Datuk Peter Nansian Ngusie said a seed bank will be set up in the area to serve as a species collection centre.
“Singai is well known for tasty and high quality durians, especially those planted in Mt Singai for many centuries. Therefore we must conduct research on the species to register it as an intellectual property of the Singai people.
