"...I CHOSE TO BE A FREE MAN..." - DR PATAU RUBIS

State Reform Party, Sarawak (STAR) chairman Dr Patau Rubis

"...I CHOSE TO BE A FREE MAN..."

..he continues by saying:

" Only Presence can free of the ego, and you can only be present Now, not yesterday or to-morrow. Only presence can undo the past in you and thus transform your state of consciousness."

Yes, indeed. I have met many who were caught in the past resulting in their inability to do better at the moment because of the routine they set themselves. Much of the progress I had achieved in life is because I refused to live in the past nor do I dream too much of what I should do in the future.

For instance, I had helped many to become YBs or even BN to stay in power in 1987 without benefiting one cent in the process of helping others

Yet when thrown to the challenge to be a "slave forever" or a freeman in 1995...I chose to be a free man even potentially losing a lot financially. Through a blessing I am still a free man now and freer now for I believe that "when God is with us no one can be against us."

I also didn't think of what I would lose by taking the present challenge of saying "NO" to some BN leaders who "could not work with me to help develop Malaysia in general and Sarawak in principles which are universally accepted.

I did not believe in getting or giving handouts as a mean to help people to escape poverty for instance nor "sic" ever believe that giving subsidy and low cost housing will reduce thieving as one Minister had said publicly!

Honesty must mean you should not say that lying is only "saying something which you do not mean to say" as a rule as said by one Minister in our meeting.

BN could do better if "inept" Ministers are set aside for better and clearer thinking ones to take over.

HAVE YOU GIVEN UP YOUR POLITICAL STRUGGLE DR PATAU RUBIS?
YOUR 'PEOPLE ARE NOT YET FREE'.

Not till death do us apart.

No Malaysia, if the formation meant that the present conditions are here so that many East Malaysians felt being looked down on or "colonized" especially for Sabahans and Sarawakians.

If Tun Jugah was told the fact that his son and grandchildren be made inferior based on Ketuanan Melayu concept of Malaya, he would have said "no" to Malaysia in 1963

Only with conditions reached at an inter-governmental meeting, so -called IGC report the 18 points were insisted by Sarawak, were accepted by Malayan leaders that Malaysia was formed on the 16th of September 1963, now known as Malaysia Day because Tun Jugah said "yes" with the 18 conditions.

DR. PATAU RUBIS, SINCE U R A VETERAN LEADER & HISTORIAN. BY ANY CHANCE WILL THIS SO CALLED AUTONOMY OF SARAWAK & SABAH IS GOING TO HAPPEN IN THE NEAR FURTHER?

It is up to your generation to be more committed to a common cause but not if some of you still believe that PR will bring that liberation.

Join us unconditionally and we shall see what can happen. Even Lina Soo's lone voice is being heard to the shores of Perlis? and Sabah.

Lina Soo is a candidate for State Reform Party (STAR) for P196 Stampin, Sarawak in GE-13 and the author of popular book "Sarawak the Real Deal"
